DEC Training Sessions for Local Officials on On-Site Regulations

SO NOW WHAT DO I DO ABOUT SEPTIC AND WATER?
A SEMINAR FOR HEALTH OFFICERS, ZONING ADMINISTRATORS, AND OTHER TOWN OFFICIALS

The Agency of Natural Resources will be presenting a seminar on what authority Towns have now after the July 1, 2007 date for implementing statewide jurisdiction over septic and water. Anne Whiteley and Roger Thompson, of ANR will discuss what Towns can and cannot do at the local level, the recent revisions to the Wastewater System and Potable Water Supply Rules, and the statutory revisions that took effect in May. Towns still have some authority in certain situations and knowing when that authority exists can be critical.

A guidance document related to town authority has been posted on the Agency’s website. The document is titled: Universal Jurisdiction’s Impact on Town Authority over Water and Wastewater after July 1, 2007 and is available at: http://www.anr.state.vt.us/dec/ww/EngServ.htm

The seminar will be held on November 8 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in Rutland.
